Honors English IV is designed for those students planning to attend post-secondary education or for those students having a passion for English Language Arts. The course addresses the content and skills of Ohio’s Academic Content Standards for English Language Arts, Grade Twelve. The standards include work in the following categories: Acquisition of Vocabulary, Reading and Writing Processes, Reading and Writing Applications, Research, and both Oral and Visual Communication. The course focuses on writing and reading with special emphasis on the development and strengthening of the students’ research skills. Literature, video and other technological modalities are also utilized as a means to foster critical thinking. Students participate in a variety of projects throughout the school year that allow them to showcase their talents as well as prepare them for college or a career. It is expected that students enrolled in this class want to be challenged and are willing to accept the responsibilities associated with a more advanced curriculum.
