This course is designed to give students a solid foundation in elementary algebraic concepts and processes. Students will be able to represent and solve problems that involve variable quantities. In addition, students will become adept at elementary graphing techniques, and be able to relate graphic and symbolic representations of algebraic equations and functions. Topics covered will include: Properties of and operations with Real numbers, linear equations and inequalities, systems of equations and inequalities, polynomials, algebraic manipulation and simplification, and quadratic equations. These concepts will be further explored in upper level math courses in high school and college. At the end of this course students will be prepared for Integrated 3 or Geometry. This course follows the recommendations of the Traditional Pathway of the Common Core State Standards for Algebra 1 content. (Will not be offered after 2011-12)
