Equine Program at TCTC Receives $20,000 from Chevy All-Stars

Thank You RD Banks Chevrolet of Champion! Thank You Lou Wollam Chevrolet of Cortland!
Christmas is past, but the spirit of the season was on display at the TCTC Board Meeting on January 13. Mr. Russel Banks and Mr. Vincent Pringle came bearing gifts that would have made Santa Claus blush.

On behalf of the Chevy All-Stars, they presented the Equine program with two -Ten Thousand dollar checks for the purpose of sponsoring the building of an outdoor riding arena. This will enhance learning and the overall educational experiences for students in the program. In many respects the gift will be one that keeps on giving.

Future students will benefit immensely from the new arena.

The success of the Equine program is well established. It is based on the achievements of the students in a variety of competitions. They have participated in many FFA events and those sanctioned by the United States Drill Association. They have claimed first place in five of the past seven drill competitions.

Students in the program have scored a 100% on Technical Skill Attainment and 91% of the graduates have found work in the program field. Job placement rate is a key component in the evaluation of Ohio's Career/Technical programs.

The support of community businesses is an integral part of the life blood of the program. Equine is resource intensive and the helping hands of others creates opportunity for the students.

As students utilize the new riding arena to hone their equestrian skills they are reminded of the involvement of our community partners. There are many definitions of making a difference, but the sponsor contributions of Chevy All-Stars via the dealerships of Lou Wollam Chevrolet and RD Banks Chevrolet is the best possible example.
