Interactive Multimedia Students Win National Contest

On May 5, 2015 Alexander Lischak, Darian Hughes, Stephanie Walton and Ethan Ramirez from the Interactive Multimedia program at the TCTC journeyed to Anaheim, California.  Although a visit to Disneyland was included in the itinerary, it was not the focus for their visit.

The students participated in the Virtual Multimedia Contest sponsored by Professionals of America. The team returned on May 10 with more than fond memories. Each of them received trophies indicative of their first place finish in the contest.

Their task in the contest was to produce and edit a video about the Business Professional of America Torch Awards program. This included interviews, voice overs and related information to educate their target audience about the validity of the Torch program.

To qualify for the trip to the Nationals, the students participated in a video conference via Skype that was rated by the judges as one of the best in the country.  Kris Doran, Multimedia Instructor, estimated that approximately 50 entries were submitted by teams vying for participation in the Nationals.

Jason Gray, Superintendent of the TCTC, commended Doran on the success of his students.  He stated, “The learning in Multimedia is authentic.  Students see relevance between what they are doing in class and how they will apply the curriculum in college and the future job market. Multimedia students have garnered the TCTC a great deal of positive publicity.”
