Policies of the TCTC High School Library
1. Each student is issued a barcode number at the beginning of the school year. Students are permitted to take out up to three books at a time with this barcode. Barcode replacement is .50¢
2. Materials borrowed from the library must be checked out using the appropriate procedure. Books are checked out for two weeks; magazines are checked out for two days. Books may be renewed; however, it is the students' responsibility to renew the item(s).
3. Daily fines will not be charged. However, a detention will be issued for ignored late notices and materials not returned. Full replacement cost will be charged for lost materials.
4. Students using the library must have a pass to use the library. Students should come prepared and engage in a meaningful activity.
5. Individual teachers issue passes to the library to complete a classroom assignment during the school day. Students may (as space is available) get a library pass from the office in the morning or at lunch to work on an assignment.
6. Students who are disruptive will be sent back to class or be issued a referral form. All student handbook policies, including dress code rules, apply. No book bags, food, or drink may be brought to the library.
7. Lost or damaged material is the responsibility of the borrower. The cost for a lost book will be the replacement value of the item.
8. Students requesting back issues of magazines must obtain them from the staff or an aide.
9. Students are expected to push in chairs, return materials, or discard trash before leaving the library.
10. Students using the Internet must have an active student account (obtained by returning a signed Acceptable Use Policy). Students are NOT permitted to play games or access e-mail. Computers are for school related assignments.

Computers
The library has 26 computers for student use. They are to be used for resource and research use. They are generally set up to provide student access to CD-ROM, Network, and Internet resources. We don't allow games to be played on them. All computers are connected to a printer. Since the computers have access to volumes of information it is sometimes appropriate to print out this information. If you wish to print out articles or other resources you have found, please print only what is needed for an assignment. Be aware of ways to conserve printing. Files and documents cannot be saved to the "My Documents" folder on the hard drive.

Internet & World Wide Web
Students must have a signed AUP to use the computers and the Internet. Our general policy is that students must have a specific topic or reason for accessing sites on the Internet. School computers are not for unsupervised surfing.
