Equal Access to CTE Opportunities

The Trumbull Career & Technical Center offers career and technical education programs designed to prepare high school students for a broad range of employment and training services. These programs are offered under the guidance of certified teachers, counselors, and cooperative education coordinators. The following is a list of programs offered and the criteria for admission. All career and technical education programs follow the district's policies of nondiscrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, gender identity and disability in all programs services, activities and employment. The lack of English language proficiency is not a barrier to admission or participation.

Air Force Jr. ROTC

  • A proficient score or higher on the end of course science test is recommended

  • Strong math, science, and English backgrounds are is helpful to assume leadership positions

  • Speech elective is recommended

  • Organizing, planning, managing, leading and public speaking skills are helpful

  • Positive attendance record is essential for success

  • Students enrolling at TCTC may have no more than two credit deficiencies

Auto Collision Technology

  • Strong math and science background is recommended

  • Arts and design courses are helpful

  • Eye-hand coordination and organization skills are beneficial

  • Positive attendance record is essential for success

Auto Services Technology

  • Algebra 1 is recommended

  • Electricity elective is suggested

  • Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical thinking, and communication skills are desirable

  • Valid driver's license required for ASE Certification

  • Positive attendance record is essential for success

Biotechnology

  • A proficient score or higher on the end of course science test is recommended

  • Strong reading, writing, and mathematical skills are desirable

  • Cumulative 2.5 GPA, with "C" or better in Algebra I is recommended

  • Positive attendance record is essential for success

  • Students enrolling at TCTC may have no more than two credit deficiencies

Construction Technology

  • Geometry is recommended

  • Mechanically-inclined and good hand-eye coordination are helpful skills

  • Positive attendance record is essential for success

Cosmetology

  • Manipulative skills, communication and interactive skills are helpful

  • A mature work ethic, dependability, listening skills and a sincere interest in people is beneficial

  • Students should have earned a proficient score or higher on the end of course science test

    (all program hours missed will be made up before registering for the State Board Exam)

Culinary Arts Academy

  • General math, speech, and communication courses are suggested

  • Home economics & French I & II electives are recommended

  • Strong "people" skills, an out-going personality, and good stamina is helpful

Dental Assisting

  • A proficient score or higher on the end of course science test is recommended

  • Strong reading, writing, and mathematics skills are desirable

Education & Family Services

  • Strong written and verbal skills are recommended

  • Computer and keyboarding skills are helpful

  • Two years of a foreign language is recommended

  • Willing and able to work in a cooperative setting with others is helpful

  • Being positive, productive, responsible, accountable with a desire to learn is beneficial

Electrical Technology

  • Good oral and written communication skills are helpful

Engineering Technology

Equestrian Studies

  • Biological sciences, communications and physical education electives are suggested

Exercise Science & Sports Medicine

  • English, mathematics, and sciences are suggested

  • Basic geometry recommended

Interactive Multimedia

Job Training

  • Biological and environmental sciences, communications, drafting, geometry, business math and physical education are suggested

Power Equipment Mechanics

Pre-Nursing: Pharmacy Tech
